Nowadays, most people are able to print from their computer printers: inkjet or toner cartridges. Small users to huge consumers such as, student to an organization, to a university or even a governmental office: they consume a lot of cartridges and many are landed in landfills after using them.
But do you now that you can sell these empties for a good price? There are people collecting these cartridges and recycling them to be re-use again. By recycling these cartridges, you can help to reduce waste to the land fills. There are a lot of non-degradable material on the cartridge: plastic, aluminium, steel and silicone. All these material could be recycle for better use instead of dumping it away.
Coming back to Cash your Trash! The prices for these cartridges varies from model to model. They may range from RM1.00 to RM50.00each depending on supply and demand. For example, a newly launched printer who uses a totally new design cartridge, and this printer sells like hot cake, the price of these empty cartridge for sure to sky rocket due to scarcity. On the other hand, an old printer which is already obsolete, not many people uses this type of printer, the demand for the empties also drops, therefore the price also follows. Like I said, the price fluctuates depending on supply and demand. A cartridge may fetch RM25 today may be worth RM8 tomorrow.

Tips on handling the cartridges. Do not keep too many for too long a period (say3-4months) because the internal parts may be spoilt. Sell your cartridges once a month or twice a month if you have a lot. You can store them back in its original wrapper (without the carton box) to keep it from moisture. As for inkjet cartridges, remember NOT to use back the blue/orange/clear tape onthe printhead- you will make it worse! Just discard the tape and pack the ink cartridge with unwanted newspaper. You can roll and wrap every 5pcs up. The key is to prevent the printhead from scratches, dents, or any type of physical abuse.
If you manage to keep the cartridges in good condition, you will be paid full price based on the market value. There are people started this practice and turned it into a million dollar business. Not many will make it to the millions, but I have seen many who made it to RM5K-RM10K/month on a 5-day week schedule.
Why wait for tomorrow? Time is ticking and waits for nobody. Start collecting these cartridges to help reduce waste and at the same time make some pocket money.
